The armature is the skeleton of the doll. We will create several different shaped armatures out of wire.   Lean to make armatures for hands, bodies and feet. Rose will provide a demonstration of armatures using materials other than wire and instructions on choosing types of wires and short cuts.  Students will learn to make an armature that can be shaped into a figure having a low belly, or a high chest, or a Santa Belly.  Armatures can be used for cloth or clay pieces, as used by many art dolls.

  • Wire cutters
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • 12″ Ruler
  • Tape Measure
  • Masking tape
  • Scissors
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Bring any wire you have in your home.  Do NOT buy any.  This is a sample only, 5″ of each wire you have.

In this class Rose will show you how to make molds of items such as doll faces, ornaments, keys, charms, just about anything using liquid rubber and mold putty.  Rose will demonstrate how to frame up the face and how to pour the mold.  If you have a doll face you like as long as it is not porous you can make a mold from it.  Rubber silicone molds can be used for pouring porcelain, casting resin, and polymer clay.   Items that are too be molded cannot be porous. If the item is porous it has to be sealed before molding.
