Come join Christine in creating this bewitching Mistress of Magic. The Mistress is a fabric doll, where you will sew the doll, clothing and hat components in advance. In class you will assemble, dress and pose the seated figure to be bewitching in her characterization. The doll has pointy toe high heel shoes and an outrageous whimsical hat. High heels are made from paper, file folder, dressmakers pin and wire. Tab head, wired fingers, using a template sewing technique. Discussion of placement and shaping of features on the face, highlight and shadow to create depth are also included. Hair attachment is demonstrated. Costuming choices using some basic shapes, manipulations and layering create an effective result. Narrow fabric tubes are used to create a sculptural “Fascinator” type hat. This doll about 10 inches from hat to toe. Students can enlarge the pattern if they wish.

Some pre-class sewing and prep-work is required.

Kit Fee: $15.00 payable in class.

The kits includes pattern, paper for shoes and class hand-outs.

In this class, Christine will show you how to create faces and hats. In-class discussion of placement and shaping of features on the face, highlight and shadow to create depth and hair arrangements will be the focus of the face part of this class.

Student will sew several heads and a basic torso and fabric tubes in advance. A very elaborate and whimsical hat using narrow fabric tubes that are stuffed with Chenille stems and manipulated is the core idea to creating hats for a doll. Experimentation on mixing and matching shapes folding and placing a items in different areas open up a wide variety of possibilities. Narrow fabric tubes are used to create a sculptural “Fascinator” type hat. A point brim, top hat and round sculptural hat will be created in class.

Kit Fee: $5.00 payable in class.

The kit includes handouts, paper hats and extra wire.
